Karla Preciado

Born and raised in Tijuana, Karla Preciado is an acrylic nature and landscape painter whose work captures the beauty, movement, and emotion of the natural world through expressive abstraction. Inspired by nature and guided by intuition, her paintings invite viewers into vibrant landscapes filled with freedom, serenity, and joy.

Karla earned her B.A. in Communications from Universidad Autónoma de Baja California, but discovered her passion for painting in 2007 after moving with her family to Andalucía. Living along the southern coast of the region, she took her first painting class and found a powerful new form of creative expression.

Over the years, Karla has studied with multiple artists, including Nicholas Wilton through the Creative Visionary Program, where she developed a deeper appreciation for abstraction and intuitive painting. Her work blends bold color palettes inspired by her Mexican heritage with expressive brushwork and layered acrylic, creating paintings rich in depth, texture, and movement. Her abstract landscapes, seascapes, and florals are designed to bring beauty, connection, and a sense of calm into everyday spaces.

Beyond her studio practice, Karla has also used art as a platform for social awareness. She has collaborated with organizations including Red Binacional de Corazones and Fondo Para la Paz, helping raise support for vulnerable and indigenous communities in Mexico through her artwork.

Currently based in San Diego, Karla’s work has been exhibited in Spain and throughout Southern California. Her evolving body of work continues to celebrate the ever-changing beauty of nature through color, emotion, and abstraction.
